⚾ Welcome to South Shore Little League (SSLL) -where tradition meets teamwork, and young athletes grow into confident leaders both on and off the field.
Located in the heart of Tottenville, Staten Island, SSLL has been a cornerstone of youth baseball for generations. With over 750 annual players, 10 divisions, and 8 fields including the Joseph Anthony Verdino Field of Dreams Stadium, SSLL is more than a baseball organization, it’s where memories are made, friendships are forged, and the community comes together.
A Legacy of Excellence:
SSLL has proudly represented Staten Island on the national stage, with multiple appearances in the Little League World Series:
-1985: Finished 7th in the world, led by Goody Halvorsen and Tom “Red” Tolino.
-1991: South Shore American LL reached Williamsport finishing 3rd in the World!
-2009: South Shore National LL continued the tradition with another World Series appearance.
-2024: SSLL made its's 4th appearance in the Little League World Series.
In addition to our Little League World Series appearances, SSLL has won more District 24, Section 3, NY State, and Regional Championships than any other league in New York City.
Outside of Little League play, we have seen many players go on to become successful high-school and college players with many returning to South Shore to coach teams and share their experiences with young players.
Our Mission
At SSLL, we believe baseball is more than a game — it’s a way to build character, celebrate milestones, and strengthen community bonds. We’re proud to offer a welcoming environment for players of all backgrounds, and starting in 2025, with the new Little League International Rules, we’ve expanded our reach to include younger athletes from outside the district.
Whether you’re a player, parent, coach, or fan, you’re part of the SSLL family. We invite you to join us in continuing this legacy of sportsmanship, pride, and community spirit.
